We all love the feeling of being secure. It is a must have in order to be able to act with confidence and live life naturally. From the teachers securing us from whenever an earthquake happens or when classmates bully us, to the police protecting our well-being from harmful elements in this unpredictable planet. In the cyber world, there also exists people who protect us from things we know little about and those are who work in the cybersecurity field. Their profession is to analyze, engineer, and design solutions to harden networks. Why do we need to be secure on the internet you say? For starters, most people store their personal information in computers so if you won't be careful in the internet those information could be stolen. There are a lot of important ethical issues in the cyberscurity field we must tackle but for now let's narrow it down to the most crucial categories.

One of those include dangers to the privacy. With the vast information of personal data being inputted in the internet, most people don't realize how exposed their lives are until the time they are in the crosshairs of hackers. If you know the deepweb, then you know how dark the internet could get. The deepweb is similar to our internet browsers but it could access links which lead to a website that could leave you questioning of how dark will the human psyche get. Anyways, in the darkweb they offer services such as selling personal information and those who get ahold of those information could be used for bad deeds such as blackmail, extortion, or to pressure compromised employees to betray sensitive client info. As a user of the internet you must practice safe habits while on the internet. As for the cybersecurity specialists, it is their job to use updated encyption tools and use all trick they have up their sleeve to lead the hackers to gaining nothing.

The next is the harm of property. The most common property harmed by the hackers is one of the most valuable thing in this planet that we need to surive, and that is money. You may have heard of phishing websites. Those are websites that look similar to the original but in fact they are under the ownership of hackers. By inputting your bank information, hackers would be able to steal them.

An additional ethical concern that should always guide cybersecurity practices pertains to the inevitably substantial expenses involved. Cybersecurity efforts demand significant investments from both individuals and organizations, including their time, financial resources, and specialized expertise. Moreover, these efforts can impose considerable burdens on system resources, affecting data storage capacity, network speed, power efficiency, as well as system usability and reliability. While it is undeniable that the absence of effective cybersecurity measures can result in even greater and more intolerable costs, it is generally not justifiable to pursue maximal security at the expense of practical usability or economic sustainability. This is analogous to securing a bank by sealing and padlocking all of its doors, which is typically neither a reasonable nor a justifiable approach.

Another cluster of ethical concerns within the realm of cybersecurity practice pertains to our overarching yet constrained responsibilities for transparency in actions that influence the welfare of individuals. Since cybersecurity often involves risk management, and given that these risks have a substantial impact on other parties, there exists an inherent ethical obligation to disclose these risks when they are known, enabling those affected to make informed choices. For instance, it is widely accepted that if a company identifies a critical vulnerability in its software, it should promptly inform its customers or clients of this discovery so that they can either install a patch (if one is available) or implement other defensive measures.
