Greetings, Holos Lotus!!!

Wishing all members of this #community health, prosperity, and personal growth on our anniversary!!!!

Let's talk about superstitions, a topic proposed by lilianajimenez@lilianajimenez and masterfully addressed by my faithful followers maiasun84@maiasun84 and iriswrite@iriswrite

Superstitions aren't just strange gestures or relics of the past; They are born from something very human: the need to hold on to something when life slips through our fingers.

And yes, science has its part. Psychology will tell us that they are mental shortcuts, traps of our own perception. Our brain, so adept at finding patterns, sometimes connects dots that have no real connection. Any action unwittingly becomes the trigger for a good or bad outcome.

Ultimately, it's fascinating how the illogical and the purely rational coexist not only in our minds. We are complex creatures, searching for meaning even where there seems to be none.

Am I superstitious? No. Or at least I don't think so.

Do I have quirks when it comes to sitting down to write? Several.

Stephen King writes with the door tightly closed. Good for him. I can't. And let me make it clear that I'm not comparing myself to that genius of American literature and horror, not even remotely. But just as he has his rituals, my own superstitions are more in the vein of nature, of the countryside, of the murmur of the mountains.

And I swear, if you take away any of these little follies, the story will crumble as if the wind were blowing the tiles off my house.

Unlike Stephen King, I write with the window open. By simple logic, I'd keep it closed in the winter to keep out the cold, or in the summer to keep out the mosquitoes or the dust kicked up by the wind. But no. The window should always, always, be open, even if it's just a crack. My theory is that if I close it, the story suffocates, becomes too claustrophobic, unreal. My characters need to breathe the same air as me.

Of course, if I open it too much, the silence of the countryside invades me and my ideas scatter like seeds.

The soundscape is provided by my invisible and natural co-authors: the constant chirping of crickets at dusk; the distant hooting of an owl at night; the feasting of chickens; the intermittent bleating of sheep on the hillside; The unmistakable sound of the neighbor's tractor, moving up and down the dirt road like a prop in a movie.

And the pinnacle of my superstitions, the one that surprises me the most. I no longer wait for the story to be finished to find out who the culprit is. Before, it tormented me. Now, the revelation of the murderer doesn't come from a silent epiphany, but from an external event that disrupts the calm or the routine of the countryside.

It could be thunder on a stormy afternoon; the barking of a dog in the distance that breaks the silence; or the mysterious creaking of the old wood of the house in the middle of the night. It's in that second of absolute distraction that my brain is freed from the pressure of consciousness.

If I sit in silence, overthinking it, trying to force a logical solution, it loses all authenticity. Nature, in its own noisy and mysterious language, gives me the truth.

But for me, these aren't just superstitions; they're my adaptations to this environment, my tools for invoking the muse amid the apparent tranquility of the countryside. My system.

If one day, by some irony of fate, I moved to a bustling, noisy city, I'm sure I wouldn't stop writing, but I would have to record the sounds of crickets, ghost tractors, or happy chickens.

Writing in hell is easy. Heaven is the real challenge.

Nuestro cerebro, tan h谩bil para encontrar patrones, a veces une puntos que no tienen conexi贸n real.

驴Soy un hombre superticioso? No. O al menos creo que no.
驴Tengo man铆as a la hora de sentarme a escribir? Varias.

Yo no puedo.

Antes, me atormentaba.
