IV. Philippe was born in 1268. Philippe became king of France in 1285.
Like other French kings in Philippe, he made reforms to strengthen the French economy and the army. And on this count Philippe created a powerful French army. Philippe started a war against England in 1294. This war lasted exactly nine years. But this war undermined both the UK and France economies. Upon this incident, the two countries signed a peace agreement. And strengthening the Philippe French economy created new taxes.
Philippe then attacked the Flanders state. Although Philippe lost the first battle, he had a great victory in the second battle. And the Flanders state had to pay France a great deal of war compensation.
At the same time Philippe believed that all the people of France should be Christians. So Philippe expelled all Jews from France in 1306. And Philippe confiscated all the Jews' possessions.
Philippe passed away in 1314.
