I just finished a 7.865km running that lasted about 0hh:35mm:26ss !
After restarting my training back on Saturday, I had plans for many runs and in daylight. But I guess as often, life got in the way, and it's my first run since Saturday, and of course after 9pm in darkness. Oh well...
As can be seen from the cover picture taken earlier today as usual (while the sun was still shining bright!), we got a few more inches of snow last night, so conditions were once again difficult. With a wind chill again around -15 degrees Celsius, it's cold! But like last time, I ended up sweating a lot, even dripping by the end... Of course, that's quite the difference with my face completely frozen...
With the cold, and the late hour, I guess I got impatient and started way to fast. I was able to keep a good pace for the first 2 miles, but it got difficult after that. The long deep snow and black ice covered stretches between mile 2 and 3 really killed my momentum, and my legs! For the first time in years I think, I actually got a side stitch. Funny too, as just a couple days ago, I was looking up how to say 'stitch' in English, I never knew that word. And before the end of mile 4, another long deep-snow covered straight part was almost the fatal blow, I thought about cutting the run short. But I managed to pick it up once more and add another decent (borderline strong-ish) mile. Final pace around 7:20 min/mile (or 7:15 by Strava data) ain't that bad.
In the end, I'm happy with the run. Now, the problem is I really doubt I will be able to put in the miles I wanted for at least the next couple of weeks. But we'll see how it goes.
Till then, keep Exhausting!
