I just finished a 11.536km running that lasted about 0hh:50mm:33ss !
As many of you already crossed over into 2021, we still have a few hours to go here. So to finish 2020 on a runner high, I went for a nice run during the sunset and of course finished in darkness. Couldn't change the habit today. I could not keep the pace under 7min/mile, but I was pretty close. So, it's a decent run, just a little bit over 7 miles. That brings my total for December to about 88miles (or 141km), which isn't bad at all, considering we had several snow and/or ice days. If I can keep that volume till end of February and loose a few pounds, I should be good to step up my training in Spring. Not to jinx it, but for once, I may actually train before a half marathon (Detroit half marathon is in October). I'm getting way too old to run that distance without training.
Route was pretty usual, with loops in the neighborhood. I checked the trails in the woods during a walk with the dogs and it was pretty bad, with a mix of mud and ice. So, I stayed on the asphalt, it's just easier.
As often, not a single human souls out there, except the cars. I guess people were preparing for the festivities tonight, or just still in holidays mode. Plus, the sun was deceiving, it was colder than expected. It took me at least 2 miles to finally warm up, particularly my feet.
Cadence was a little better. From the plot below, it's pretty clear, I was doing okay until I started to get tired and reverted back to a longer stride. It felt like I got a second wind after mile 5, but it didn't seem to affect cadence.
Happy new year to all, and keep Exhausting!
