Hey Actifitters,
If you like the fall colors as much as I do, this one will be for you. And sorry in advance, but that's also a lot of photos. Considering I took a gazillion of it, that's only a few of them actually.
Anyways, as most Saturdays, it started late and most of what we had planned didn't get done. Like Le Chat, the desire to stay lazy was high!
To get us moving, we first checked the fall foliage in the yard and went to the small forest.
But we didn't stay there long and headed to the bigger forest right away. Even before making it to the forest, you can always find beautiful foliage and wildlife. One of the deer in that group really seemed interested by Kaia.
As cool as it is on the way, it's just next level when you make it to the forest entrance, even though colors started to slowly fade there.
And once you actually enter the forest, it's just postcard worthy scenery everywhere you look!
Kaia doesn't care much for any of this, but she enjoys the off-leash time of course.
As we went deeper in the forest, we found a few views with the sun piercing through the trees, and various plants, so many different shades of vibrant colors!
We made our way to the clearing near the middle of the forest and went a bit off-trail to find more colors and also avoid some of the other walkers in the area.
And suddenly a cat jumped out of a pile of broken trees. Kaia was surprised for a fraction of a second but chased it right away of course. I was very worried for that cat because for some reason it kept running instead of climbing up a tree. Kaia almost caught it but luckily other broken trees slowed her down and that poor cat finally managed to escape. That was unusual for Kaia, not the chasing part of course, but normally she stops when I yell. She clearly didn't this time, completely ignored me. Not good. So, of course, she had to do several long down/stays. Hopefully she learned her lesson.
I like it when even the ground is full of vibrant colors too.
We made it to the teepees.
At that point, it was already a longer walk than usual and I thought we'd just walk back from there. But Kaia had already decided she wanted to take the long route.
It was a good choice cause we found many more beautiful views and of course fall colors.
We were already all the way out there, so I thought we'd stop at our old sunset spot near the streets corner. Also a good choice, even though the sunset itself was already behind the horizon.
And bonus on the other side, the majestic Moon in the blue sky above the big antenna.
This time, we really turned back and headed back home, following the forest edge and catching the last colors for the day.
We met another cat, but this one didn't flee. Luckily I saw it before Kaia and put her leash back on. She was pretty tired anyways and I'm not even sure she'd have chased it.
After seeing the beautiful Moon on the way back, almost full, I thought it was a perfect day to break out the small telescope once it got dark. In case you didn't notice, I just love the Moon!
And that was it for the day's activities. Even with just a few hours, we managed to make it a great day. It was probably too long of a walk for Kaia though, she was limping again at the end. She enjoyed the walk a lot but it was a good reminder she still needs surgery if we want to keep taking these long walks. We'll keep thinking about it before we make our final decision.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
