Undoubtedly, the human brain has multiple functions, but ¿Do you know what is the fundamental role? Simple, stay alive as long as possible.
The brain, at all times, is scanning our surrounding world, is in search of dangersor situations that threaten our integrity, and according to the scenario perceived, immediately assess and adjust our emotions, preparing our body in response to what is perceived.
When perceiving some dangerous situation that can cause us harm and even death, orders the body to be prepared to leave unharmed, it is what is known as the answer of fight or run away.
Imagine you are walking through the park, and out of nowhere appears a Crocodile that is heading towards you and opens its huge mouth, with intentions to bite, then, ¿What does the Emotional Brain do? Fight or run away
¿Have you ever felt this way ?, No doubt in this scenario it is best to run away, unless you are a crocodile enthusiast or have skills like "The crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin.
Now imagine another scenario:
You are walking with a baby in your cart and a pitbull dog appears, obviously aggressive, and wants to bite the baby
¿What do you think will happen?
Immediately defend the baby, quickly your body suspends those processes that are not necessary, at that moment
a) The digestive process, that is, if you finish having breakfast, you will feel sick to your stomach.
b) It orders to accelerate the heart rate, that is, the heart will beat stronger and faster,
c) Increase breathing, you feel how air enters your lungs faster and faster.
d) The muscles become wider, this feature can not be seen, but you feel like the Incredible Hulk and you can jump or run in an incredible way.
e) The view becomes sharper, you will see any necessary details.
In general, your body is prepared as an army to fight or flee.
That is why the brain orders the suspension of the digestive process, you also feel that breathing accelerates, increases the heart rate and increases blood flow, all this is necessary for you. You can live alive from this situation.
I hope you liked it, in the next opportunity I will talk about another function of the brain, and I will answer some questions:
