Today I will give you information about social anxiety, what it is. For example, if you are sitting in a meeting, suddenly your boss takes your name, "Do you have the answer to this, my friend?" or "What is your opinion about this?" As soon as he takes your name and some people look towards you, your heart suddenly beats fast, your hands turn cold, and your mind goes completely blank. You even know the boss's answer and you also know the solution, but your voice does not come out at all in front of the boss. Afterwards, a person thinks exactly this: "Was everyone judging me?" or "Was everyone thinking wrongly about me?" Is this just shyness or something else? This, my friends, is social anxiety. Regarding this, today I will educate you.Social anxiety means the fear of people. Even today, when such a patient goes in front of people, their brain overreacts. All sorts of thoughts come, such as, "What will people think about me?" or "What if I make a mistake?" and feeling the fear of embarrassment all the time. Even if someone praises such a patient, they still do not like it. Or when such a patient speaks in public, in a meeting, or in a classroom, they feel panic. And the body also reacts to these thoughts; sweat comes, breathing gets heavy, and the heart rate also becomes fast. That patient always has a fear: "What if I fail in front of people?"To understand this, first we have to understand what is happening with our brain at that time. This is not just a thought, but it is our brain's alarm system. The alarm system is called the Amygdala, which we call the alarm system and emotional center, and its size in the brain is like an almond. If you feel danger in any place, the Amygdala gets activated. Becoming active, it activates your body's sympathetic nervous system, fight or flight, because of which you get anxiety symptoms—panic, fear, shivering, and heart racing happen, which causes a lot of overthinking. Because of this very reason, people avoid going to meetings, school, and college, due to which confidence drops completely. Now we come to its treatment. Its treatment is that if this happens to you, explain to your brain. Even if you do not want to, go to meetings, school, college, etc., from which your brain learns. If the problem is minor, you can do therapy, CBT therapy. If the problem is severe, you can go to a psychiatrist doctor; he can give you antidepressants. But more powerful than all of these is to challenge it yourself and to identify yourself.
