Took a walk along the beach of St, George Manor in Shirley Long Island, NY.. A historic house and grounds going back to the Revolutionary War. The property borders the Great South bay on Long Islands South shore.

Looking west across the Great South Bay, there is about a fifteen foot bluff to walk down to the beach from.

Swans and Geese frequent the area. Being off limits to boat landings helps to make it a sanctuary for the birds.

The beach makes a pleasing crescent curve as you head north.

I was going to call this post" Dead Beach"from all the dead critters found along the way.

This is the spot I got to take some photos of Osprey birds carrying their lunch.

The beach is not that long, a few NYC long blocks and back. At the end was a chain link fence to keep people out.

I walked up to the fence and didn't realize the birds sitting on it till they were right in my face. They must be young fledglings because they weren't afraid of me. Later it must have been their parent started to harass me. They are some kind of a Swift I think.

I was two feet away when I got this shot of one testing his wings in the gentle breeze.

Thanks for taking this Beach Walk with me....
