With the aroma of pine trees and peppermint filling the air, beautiful twinkling lights all around and a big, fat fresh Christmas tree covered in sentimental ornaments that make you reminisce on the past, Christmas is such a beautiful holiday and has always been one of my favorites. Growing up, I would give my parents my Christmas list 2 weeks in advance. I waited anxiously for that day to arrive, so I could open up my gifts. As I got older, I realized that, though gifts are wonderful things, there was more to Christmas then just gifts under the Christmas tree.

I was never a “designer” person. Though, designer bags are beautiful, I was never really one to spend thousands of dollars on a bag. It just wasn’t who I was. I would rather use that money on adventuring or traveling and experiencing memorable moments.

After my father passed away, I tried everything to fill the gaping void that filled my heart. He passed away in August and just 4 months later was Christmas. At the time, I thought that material things would bring me happiness. I thought that getting a Celine bag would help ease the pain. But it didn’t.

This is the second Christmas without my dad and every year Christmas has always been about the gifts. This year? This year was the first year I realized it’s about the love of our family, the laughter of my siblings and the memories that we create with one another. Cherish every moment that you spend with someone. Because that truly is the best gift.

Happy holidays!

I love you all.
