Being 42 pounds lighter may not sound like a big achievement but for me even if I lose 1 pound, it makes a difference (as I mentioned previously in my blog that A Little A Day, Makes A Big Difference). At least when I think about 9 months back and now, I feel 42 pounds lighter.

HOW IT STARTED???

Like everybody, I had to struggle for my weight loss success and it took time just like any people who wanted to lose weight, I also wished there was some kind of magic pill that I could pop and when I open my eyes the next morning, I would get the desired weight I want.

Weight loss journey was always a struggle for me, it was like going on a battle field when I know I will come back defeated. That was how my weight loss journey was in the past, too many ups and downs, too many mistakes I made along the way, and was even on the verge of giving up. I was thinking being overweight was my destiny, I was thinking god wanted me to be like this and, there is nothing I can change about this. Little did I know that I was wrong. No one is destined to be overweight, it’s all in your hand, it’s all in your mind, how you want to keep yourself motivated.

I was always a chubby kid since young (maybe if there was the chubbiest kid competition, I would come in 1st)

As I grew up, I was the biggest in size, be it among my siblings…

OR my friends….

Junk food was always there for me, in times of happiness and sadness. Feeling hungry in the middle of the night and sneaking into the kitchen for bowl of ice cream was part of my daily routine when I was young. Now thinking about it, I am amazed how I used to finish whole Cadbury milk chocolate in one go, without sharing with my siblings (that explains the tooth decay I had and the number of times I had to visit a dentist and increase his bank balance).

Whenever I used to get pocket money for my lunch in school, all I ate was chocolate and sweets. I never had any liking for healthy snacks such as fruits. And I was never fond of plain water, even after I became an adult (until recently for the past 9 months, I am surprised at the amount of water intake I am taking and despite that, I still feel thirsty. I feel like my body is sucking in all those water that I had lacked for the past 33 years of my life).

Teased by a Classmate

I was one of the quietest person in the class and didn’t used to talk much (maybe because I was one of the fattest too, so my confidence level was low when I was a teenager). One of my classmate, who was a naughty one always used to tease everybody in class and he used to call me “mammoth” (at that time, I had no idea what “mammoth” meant, I was thinking maybe he was just playing around with my name “Mamata”).

I was only involved with few girl friends as I had no confidence level to approach any guy and make them my friend. Wherever I went, I always used to walk with my girlfriends because I felt I could hide myself among them and people will stop teasing me.
.
Attending my friend’s birthday parties or any event was such a depressing moment for me because the only clothes that would fit me were just some over-sized jeans and t-shirts, while my friends wore the best outfit they had. I felt so embarrassed attending parties in my oversized clothes every time. I never had the confident to wear sexy clothes or worst still, it was difficult to find one in my size.

Sports was the last thing in my mind as I hated it during my secondary school times. I never took part in any sports day activity when I was a teenager, though I used to attend it every year because it was compulsory as attendance was marked even on those days. So, while my friends would be taking part in the games, I would be enjoying the freebies we used to get.

There were some days I looked forward to attending school and some days I used to wish I would be sick out of the blue, reason being was the PT class, where we were made to do running, jumping, sit ups and etc . BUT I always looked forward to Tuesday when we had Home Economic class, where we were taught to cook various types of food such as Chinese food, Indian food, cakes, cookies and etc.

Somehow, my 4 years of secondary school got completed and I was glad that I did not have to face the classmate who used to tease me as “MAMMOTH” again in my life.

Have you been in these kind of situation like me? Struggling with your weight? Classmates teasing you? Not being able to wear the desired clothes you wanted to wear? Do share your stories with me as we can motivate and give tips to each other on how to lose weight

For the meantime, I would continue my struggle that I endured after my secondary school in my next blog. I hope you will read my blogs and give me support by following, upvoting and commenting on my blogs and for those who have not read my 1st post about my weight loss blog, I have attached the link below.
