Coming to this resort has been one of the biggest highlights of my life. I’ll be going to my military service soon, and all the dirty work I’m doing right now is going to be a good warmup for the real deal. So, actually I’m thinking of doing a few more Volunteer works before wearing the uniform.

We had a pretty heavy day on Tuesday, and here’s the story;

We woke up at around 7am. The group had their breakfast while I was sipping on my coffee (Intermittent fasting baby!!!). We had no idea about harf the day would be. I mean we had a clue on what we were supposed to do, but the real thing didn’t kick till 1 hour in to the work.

Girls had to take all the furniture out of the rooms and redesign them. Boys however, had a much more challenging one in their plate.

We were supposed to to basically straighten small hills of dirt which were not so small. We also had to more metal and wooden doors from one different parts of the yard to one place and get them arranged.

Working with shovel though was a challenge for me at first. I personally hadn’t worked with shovel and didn’t know the techniques of working with that tool. I was getting tired very faster than others. The bad technique was taking a toll on my back.

One of the volunteers saw me struggling with shoveling, and tried to teach me how to work effectively and efficiently without hurting my back. I tried to follow and do as he says. But it wasn’t that easy. I kept his tips in my head and I applied them as the hours went by.

I wasn’t too happy about sucking at shoveling. But here’s what I’ve learned about learning, that you just need to keep repeating till you get the hang of a skill you are trying to achieve. So I just kept following the instructions.

After 3 hours of work, We had our lunch and break time. We had a quick rest and got back for the afternoon part of the work, and something was very odd to me. I was starting to get the work and my performance was just boosted. I was surprised by amount of difference between my work on the morning and the afternoon. The others were seeing it too, and told me about it. My body was starting to follow.

The feeling was awesome! Just to know that I’m able to the dirty work and learn the ways as well.

We didn’t think we could be able to finish everything in one day, but against all of it, we finished everything and leveled the whole yard. Nothing was like looking at it and knowing that we were the ones who finished that amount of work.

The lesson for me was this: The shovel does not give a damn about how strong you are!

Thank you for reading this.

Peace! 💚
