As a child I always dreamed of knowing this paradise of my country, I am fond of cold climates and that is why I desired knowing Merida. The city has the most beautiful mountainous landscapes, its capital has buildings from the colonial era such as the Cathedral, the headquarters of the University of the Andes, among others.
De niña siempre soñé con conocer este paraíso de mi país, soy aficionada a los climas fríos y es por eso que conocer Mérida era un anhelo. La ciudad cuenta con los más hermosos paisajes montañosos, su capital cuenta con edificaciones de la época colonial como La Catedral, la sede de la Universidad de los Andes, entre otros.
In front of the Cathedral and like most Venezuelan cities, there is the Bolivar Square, which also has the oldest bust of our Liberator. If you are in the city, you should not miss the visit to the municipal market, where you can find a variety of handicrafts, clothing, sweets and typical foods, my favorites are the Andean pasties, which are a delight.
Frente a la Catedral y como la mayoría de las ciudades venezolanas, se encuentra la Plaza Bolívar que además posee el busto más antiguo de nuestro Libertador. Si estas en la ciudad, no debes dejar pasar la visita hasta el mercado municipal, donde se puede hallar una variedad de artesanías, ropa, dulces y comidas típicas, mis favoritos son los pastelitos andinos, que son una delicia para el paladar.
And if we talk about delicacies, Merida has the Coromoto ice cream shop, famous for holding the Guinness record for having more than 600 varieties of ice cream flavors. I remember that the last time I went there, I dared to try one with a hot dog flavor and its resemblance to the authentic flavor was really impressive. We can find flavors of liquors, infinity of foods and of course the traditional flavors like chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.
Y si de delicias hablamos, Mérida cuenta con la heladería Coromoto famosa por poseer el récord Guiness por tener más de 600 variedades de sabores de helados. Recuerdo que la última vez que fui me atreví a probar uno con sabor de perros calientes y su parecido con el sabor auténtico era realmente impresionante. Podemos encontrar sabores de licores, infinidad de comidas y por supuesto los sabores tradicionales como chocolate, fresa y mantecado.

In addition, we can find La Venezuela de Antier (Ancient Venezuela) thematic park, that gives us a recreation of the Venezuela of the 20’s when Juan Vicente Gómez was governing.

Además, podemos encontrar el parque temático La Venezuela de Antier que nos da una recreación de la Venezuela de los años 20 cuando gobernaba Juan Vicente Gómez.
And we cannot fail to mention the most visited tourist attraction, the highest and longest cable car in the world that runs from the Plaza Las Heroínas Station to the Espejo Peak, which in winter time, can be snowy and is a pleasure to the eye.
Y no podemos dejar de mencionar la atracción turística más visitada, el teleférico más alto y largo del mundo que recorre desde la Estación Plaza Las Heroínas hasta el Pico Espejo, el cual en época de invierno, puede estar nevado y es un encanto para la vista.
