5) The Maze Runner Saga by James Dashner
5) La Saga de Maze Runner de James Dashner
I read this saga last year when I borrowed all the books and even part of the sequels, and I think it is very, very interesting, in fact I think everyone should read these books, why? Because it puts us in the context of an apocalyptic world, a dystopian universe that however if we analyze the situation in depth, taking into account the advances in technology and science, often used for evil or for the benefit of a few who can afford them, could become reality, is a criticism of the system and also exposes the hypocrisy of large corporations that often want to justify their excesses with phrases like "is for the greater good" and in the case of this saga we come across many times with the contradictory phrase "C. R.U.E.L. is good".
As you read on it is impossible to stop, I felt part of the story as if I were a survivor, it is impressive to see how far big corporations can go and even more so when life on planet earth as we knew it has disappeared, and the few humans left in the world have been classified as "immune" or "infected".
This story made me think about many things, among them selfishness, how many of us are willing to share our resources with our fellow human beings in the event of a global catastrophe, or if on the contrary we would eliminate each other like wild animals, how far would the leaders and big corporations of the world be able to go with their greed and cruelty, would they see us as chess pieces or guinea pigs to test drugs and possible cures for diseases that they themselves created? Although it is science fiction, it doesn't seem so isolated from reality 🤔.
4) Ami Child of the Stars by Enrique Barrios
4) Amy el Niño de las Estrellas de Enrique Barrios
Ami is an alien child who arrives on planet earth with the intention of giving wisdom to the human being to avoid the catastrophe towards which he is heading, he shows his earthling friend the key that exists to achieve peace and harmony and that is nothing more than universal love. What I find most interesting is the premise that the author presents to us, that beings rise in level and evolve through their good deeds, they rise spiritually and to achieve this we only have to start with simple actions.
As I applied this learning in my daily life I noticed that I certainly started to look at myself from a different approach, I must not wait for the world to change, I must change it myself through my actions and then promote this idea so that more and more people make a difference.
3) The World's Greatest Miracle by Og Mandino
3) El Milagro Más Grande Del Mundo de Og Mandino
This book fascinated me from the first moment I had it in my hands, I read it on my dad's recommendation, so one fine day I took it out of his library and found a wonderful message "The World's Greatest Miracle" at that moment I could never imagine that the greatest miracle in the world was myself and the enormous value I have as a person, the book came at a very opportune moment in my life, in my adolescence, the time when we constantly question ourselves about our capabilities and virtues.
Og Mandino, the author, presents us through a beautiful story and a particular narrative with the idea that God is among us, that he is much more attainable than we think, and it is he himself who gives the protagonist a Memorandum with a wonderful message, the way you were created, with all the capacities and virtues you possess and how much you have to offer to the world.
In fact my dad has a funny anecdote about this. He liked the book so much that he took the "Memoramdum from God" at the end of it, had it photocopied and stuck it inside his locker at work, so that when he opened it in the mornings and evenings, he would read the message and be filled with peace. On one occasion he was furious about something that had happened to him, full of anger he slammed the lid of the locker and it opened abruptly revealing the message, my dad's eyes went inexorably there and he began to read, feeling bad after having been carried away by anger, rediscovering that he was above any problem because he himself was a miracle.
2) One Hundred Years of Solitude By Gabriel García Márquez
2) Cien Años de Soledad de Gabriel García Márquez
God! I will never get tired of saying how much I love this book, it is a complete universe full of enigmas that you solve as you go through the hundred years distributed in its pages, I think it is a book that is made to be read many times, each character is very important and has its own story. García Márquez, the author, could even have made a separate book about each character because "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is a book extremely rich in nuances.
In this book there are not many dialogues but the author's narrative is very detailed, which allowed me to immerse myself in the story without any difficulty, besides the magical realism that abounds in its pages captivated me from the first chapter precisely because the extraordinary is narrated very naturally by Márquez, which caused me to be filled with more and more curiosity.
1) The Harry Potter Saga by J.K Rowling
1) La Saga Harry Potter de J.K Rowling
The sensations that overwhelm me every time I read each of the seven books of this saga and even those that are outside the story but belong to the same universe are indescribable. I must confess that I first saw the movies but as soon as I started reading the books I fell in love at first sight, although the books are narrated from the point of view of the protagonist most of the time, you never lose detail of what happens around him, the wonderful creativity of Rowling is admirable because just by reading the first book you discover a complete universe, where the author even created a parallel economy to the world of muggles (non-magical people) a political system, magical diseases, spells, creatures, in short... it is something absolutely amazing... it's absolutely amazing.
As I was reading the books I found the world of fanfiction, this is an activity that allows you to venture into the world of writing, using existing stories and characters not only in order to create alternative stories (to your preference) but in my case it was like a school to polish my skills with each story I was creating, until I finally decided to write my own (so far I have written three original stories) but I still continue writing fanfiction, something that makes me feel full and creative.
