Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
"The man is the protector of women, for Allah has bestowed some of them (men) over the other (women), and because they have provided for their livelihood. righteous women, are those who obey (Allah) and guard themselves when (their husbands) are not there, for Allah has guarded (them) Women whom ye fear for nushyuz, give them counsel unto them, abandon them in (if you need to) beat them, but if they obey you, then do not look for an excuse to troubles him: truly, Allah is Most High, Most Great. "
(Surah An-Nisa '4: Verse 34)
