Hi everyone. As you probably have noticed, I stopped making new videos for a while. My daytime job as a teacher has overtaken my life for a few months so I have had to wait until I'm on school holidays to be able to make a video.
Back to my new BYD Atto 3 car - a new BYD app has just been released. There are many things you can do with the phone app basically because the smart car has a 4G sim in it so it is always connected to the internet (in theory - when everything works). So I demonstrate in this video everything I have discovered the app can do.
The number one thing the app can do is to replace a key. You already have to carry a phone around, so why carry your keys around as well? Granted, the key is very light, but it's still one less thing in your pocket. You can unlock / lock the car with the app, as well as even starting the car with aircon with the app. So if you are on a hot summer day, you can start the aircon with the car for 10 minutes, before unlocking the car, so when you get into your car it's all nice and cool for you. And if it's too cold, you can turn on the heater as well, before getting in the car.
Other than acting as a key with infinite range, you can also use it to sound an alarm or flash the lights. This is so if you're lost in a parking lot and can't find your car, you can use it to find your car. The alarm makes 5 very loud beeps though, so be careful when you're trying it out as you may attract a fair bit of attention!
Lastly, it gives you a notification when someone opens your door - kind of like a security alarm. How freaky would it be to receive one of these if you weren't expecting someone to drive your car! It will be very hard for someone to steal your car though, as you'll be able to turn the car off remotely, ha ha.
You can also turn on seat heating and check your tyre pressure, among all of the things I've just said. Cool app aye? One of the small perks of buying a new EV.
