Hello Hivers today I come to talk about the spicy and how eating a spicy snack made me start to investigate and reflect a little, I do not usually consume spicy foods, I do not hate it but I do not love it either, and you may wonder why the post is about the spicy? Recently my sister sent things from Colombia to Venezuela, among them some snacks, and there were several packages of a spicy snack, of this snack I had already tried the one that is not spicy and only has lemon, its name is choclito and alludes to the fact that the product is made from corn, an interesting fact is that in Colombia is called choclo to the tender corn cob, and in Venezuela it is called Jojoto.

In the first bites the spiciness was not strong, and I found that the flavor of choclito was delicious and this made me want to eat it until the end, it is a 27g bag so it is a snack for only one person, what came later was that when I continued eating the spiciness increased and I began to think why if I feel that my mouth is burning I keep eating? then I was in the task of doing research on the subject.
The first thing I found was information about what makes us feel spicy, a burning sensation in the mouth and tongue that occurs when consuming foods containing capsaicin, a chemical found in chili peppers and other condiments, but then I wondered how they make snacks spicy, and the answer was that snacks can be spicy due to the addition of spices and sauces that contain spicy ingredients such as cayenne pepper, chili, Tabasco sauce, among others.
I also wondered why some appetizers are spicier than others, because I ventured to eat another appetizer that claimed to be spicy and wasn't spicy at all, and I thought it was due to the ingredients, and it is certainly due to the different amounts of spices and seasonings used in their preparation. In general, appetizers that contain ingredients such as chili peppers, black pepper, garlic, onion, ginger and other spicy seasonings are hotter than those that do not. In addition, food companies can adjust the level of spiciness of their products to meet consumer preferences, so some snacks may be spicier than others simply because they are targeted to an audience that prefers spicy flavors.
In the end all those questions led me to the last question which was why do we eat spicy food if it causes pain in the mouth? maybe we like to challenge ourselves, or in my case it was like that, I don't eat it all the time and whenever I see something spicy I think about how strong it is, I forgot to mention that I ended up enchilada when I finished the package of choclitos, that is, I had a strong burning sensation in my mouth and tongue.
I still have several packs of choclitos picantes left and I'm sure they won't run out quickly.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading my post.
