Recuerdo que hace aproximadamente 15 años ummm... Tal vez un poquito más tenía terror andar sola en la ciudad; me parecía una ciudad con mucho caos, donde tenías que estar alerta con todo; yo parecía más un gato receloso que una joven.
I remember about 15 years ago, ummm.... Maybe a little bit more I was terrified to walk alone in the city; it seemed to me a city with a lot of chaos, where you had to be alert with everything; I seemed more like a suspicious cat than a young girl.
Un día mientras durante un retraso apocaliptico en el metro (Subterráneo) yo estaba más malhumorada que de costumbre y un amigo que me acompañaba solo para romper el hielo me dijo - Hey que te parece si en lugar de molestarte comienzas a "tripearte" la ciudad.- en perfecto caraqueño -Torcí mis ojos puesto que era una estupidez lo que acababa de decir.
One day while during an apocalyptic delay in the subway, I was more grumpy than usual and a friend who was with me just to break the ice said to me - Hey what do you think if instead of getting upset you start "enjoy" the city.- in perfect caraqueño - I twisted my eyes since it was a stupidity what I had just said.
Luego me dijo- Hay cosas valiosas aquí ,hay personas que con cosas sencillas están aprovechando vivir la ciudad - cuando levante la vista pude ver a una señora tejiendo, a un chico de la Orquesta sinfónica tocando su violín apoyado en la pared del andén y sí cuando preste atención pude escuchar la melodía y observar que en la parte superior del andén una escultura metálica decoraba parte del caótico lugar.
Then he said to me- There are valuable things here, there are people who with simple things are taking advantage of living the city - when I looked up I could see a lady knitting, a boy from the Symphony Orchestra playing his violin leaning against the wall of the platform and when I paid attention I could hear the melody and observe that at the top of the platform a metallic sculpture decorated part of the chaotic place.
Es allí donde pude observar sin juicios la belleza que tiene lugar dentro del caos de la urbanidad. Caracas es una ciudad muy variopinta, lleno de grises como cualquier capital del mundo pero si subes tú mirada un poco más descubres la variedad de colores y contraste que no puedes ver perenne en ningún otro lugar (no soy la más cercana conocedora pero tengo referencias y he estado en lugares que me pueden asegurar esa afirmación).
It is there that I was able to observe without judgment the beauty that takes place within the chaos of urbanity. Caracas is a very colorful city, full of grays like any capital of the world but if you look up a little more you discover the variety of colors and contrast that you can not see anywhere else (I am not the closest connoisseur but I have references and I have been in places that can assure me that statement).
Es así como comencé a vivir mi ciudad, disfrutar de vivir en un museo al aire libre, una ciudad donde pareciera ser siempre primavera, una ciudad donde hay belleza en su paisaje que ha inspirado a artistas como Manuel Cabré y también obras de arte que se entremezclan para darle vida, una ciudad con una personalidad versátil pero siempre amena.
This is how I began to live my city, to enjoy living in an open-air museum, a city where it seems to be always spring, a city where there is beauty in its landscape that has inspired artists like Manuel Cabré and also works of art that intermingle to give it life, a city with a versatile personality but always enjoyable.
Hoy luego de tanto tiempo y después de haber extrañado un poco este lugar, salí a recorrer sus calles con la esperanza de disfrutar de unas obras que en un momento quise ver cómo viajera en otro país pero me llegó la oportunidad de disfrutarlas con los colores caribeños del mío y se trata de la "MeninasCaracasGallery" del arista plástico Antonio Azzato la referencia a esta exposición se los cuento en otro capítulo.
Today after so long and after having missed this place a little, I went out to walk its streets hoping to enjoy some works that at one time I wanted to see as a traveler in another country but I got the opportunity to enjoy them with the Caribbean colors of mine and it is the "MeninasCaracasGallery" of the artist Antonio Azzato the reference to this exhibition I will tell you in another chapter.
