Though it’s not a full year yet but so far, the nominee of being my most useless purchase of the year goes to this silicone rollable keyboard. I can’t fathom why this product exists at the market as though it may seem convenient and promises innovative problem solving such as portability and spill-free, it comes with several drawbacks. In this post, I will be reviewing a K-One rollable silicone keyboard.

Personally, one of the most important features a keyboard should have is a typing experience and this rollable keyboard is deficient of that one. Though I have to say, I purchased it because it was an emergency case but let’s expand on that one in a bit.

While I was traveling the other week, I forgot my logitech dongle which helps connect my wireless Keyboard MK240 from logitech. I’ve been using it for a while now and I love how reliable and the clanking sound that it makes. Though at times, it definitely can get noisy especially when I was working in very quiet places. The MK240 keyboard is my lifeline and has a great typing experience. It supports the way I type which is quite fast and I expect no delays. When I noticed that my dongle was at home, I panicked and wanted to come home quickly as I had something to do on my laptop. Since I was far away from home, I reckon I’d just find a computer shop where I can find a cheap temporary replacement for my keyboard. I was hoping I could find a product from Votre or even Mikuso which are both available through USB connection and are always under $7 which was the budget I was willing to spend for a temporary solution.

So, in the middle of nowhere, I found a computer shop and repair shop that apparently sells keyboards. I told him to get the cheapest keyboard he had and eventually he looked for a keyboard in his dusty shelves. He ended up finding me a rollable silicone keyboard. I never like a silicone keyboard because in terms of typing experience, they’re pretty terrible. But I had no choice and since it was the cheapest at that store, I went with it.

The keyboard has a massive caps lock with a strange placement of the caps. There are two shifts located adjacent to each other which was annoying. You also have to punch it really hard in order to be able to type something and there are delays here and there. But as long as the enter button works, that’s all I needed at the time. It certainly works but I really had to punch it a few times before it was properly functioning. Aside from the fact that this keyboard looks pretty old, I had to straighten it first and make them lay out evenly. It took a while for the keyboard to be straightened and where I can use them properly.

Luckily, it fits just fine on top of my laptop which is a big bonus since I would not need an extra space just to use it. Although, I was still pretty disappointed with the fact that this keyboard is barely functional and I won’t really use it other than a few emergency times in the future. And I still have no idea why people would genuinely want this type of keyboard unless a special case like I had, an emergency one.
