For me it changes a lot but there's one thing that I come to truly enjoy eating. It's egg wraps. I came to know about this food from Mcdonalds. Growing up, my mom never bought me any type of fast food and only as an adult, I got to try them but it was already too late? because everyone now talks about how fast food is unhealthy and my mom might be right all along.
Anyway, at one point, Mcdonalds was my staple. My morning coffee a few years back started with a breakfast wrap, hash browns, and black coffee, if I am feeling a little fancy, I'd add hot cakes to my order. That was on repeat but then, I guess I was slowly killing myself. Now with Mcdonalds an hour drive from where I live,it's not something I can just order at a whim. So, why not make it myself?
The only thing that I am removing from my wrap is the smoked chicken/processed meat. I typically don't like meaty stuff in my wrap. I like the simplicity of egg, tortilla wrap, and the melted cheese that powers me through the day. Technically, I eat once or twice a day so, egg wraps and eating food I came to enjoy is definitely worth it.
To make that kind of wraps, I use 2 eggs with milk. It creates soft velvety texture that goes really well with the tortilla and the cheese. It also similar to the taste that I tried at Mcdonalds but they added butter and I don't. I mean, just like my minimalist life, I am very minimal when it comes to food too.
Sometimes, I am spicing up a little for the afternoon and it would look something like this. They are pretty light version of what I typically have in the morning. At the same time, instead of hot coffee, I am pairing it with iced coffee.
When I am making these myself, it's one of the reason why I rarely go out to cafes. I crave for something that tastes familiar and consistent. It's hard to find these days and I am not paying to be disappointed. It's why, even with food. I am just making it on my own unless I feel a little adventurous.
It's not complete breakfast without a coffee. Today instead of a latte, I am making a cappuccino with a thick foam on top. It's really good and definitely perks me up in the morning. It also tastes just the way the cafe makes it except cafe uses specialty beans and I don't. Anyhow, this week I am going to see if there's specialty beans I'd love to have and try for my latte and cappucino base at home.
