Inktober 2021, Day 28: Crispy

Day 28 was one of those low energy, reaching for the coffee mug at the sloth speed type of days accompanied by the sound of rain and gloomy skies. Not that I have been outside for days! xD

The theme of the day was - crispy. Burnt to a crisp tree emerged before my eyes. This year the fires across the globe have been the worst seen yet. It is scary how it has become a norm to experience deadly heatwaves every summer that causes most of these fires and devastation.

I added the one green leaf on the tree, and it is up to your interpretation of what it stands for :)

_{What tools and materials did I use for this artwork? Hahnemühle Mixed Media paper 310 g/m² which is the same one I use for all of Inktober drawings; Faber-Castell pencil 2B for the light underlying sketch, I have been using the same pencil the entire time of the challenge, and it is more than a half has gone from all the sharpening; a Pigma Brush pen for the outlines, yay my brush pen supplies are replenished, and I used a fresh one here; the Diamine drawing inks Jet Black for the tree trunk and branches, Canary Yellow and Ruby for the glowing embers in the burns and the background; the Diamine fountain pen ink Sherwood Green for the only green leaf; Sakura Gelly Roll liner 08 for the highlights on the leaf.}

I guess I am the odd one for always painting the background last? I know that the correct way should be that the background is the place to start. Perhaps, it is my discomfort with painting backgrounds at all. Instead, I go for my favorite bits first. Anway once the tree was completed, I felt the fiery background was needed. It made the grey, crispy coal tree pop even more.
