Vessel + Stuck - Ink drawing, 21x16 cm, 2021
As soon as the list of prompts of Inktober was released, I sat down to come up with ideas of what to draw for each prompt. I read them all out loud, and as I reached the word stuck, it connected with the vessel and the story of Ever Given in my mind. Especially, since stuck followed in order after the vessel. I will make the vessel stuck on day 12! It still amuses me xD
I feel this piece now has a more complete look than before as well. I purposefully placed the ship higher up on the paper so there would be room for the canal to appear and make it stuck. Ha!
I made my Ever Given stuck using Diamine jet black drawing ink to keep it all monochrome and the white Gelly Roll pen liner all over the canal part in the form of the tiniest dots. I love dots. I love adding these layers and seeing how they transform the artwork. They make some details a lot more pronounced. While the process also takes a bunch of time, it is so enjoyable, especially, with some music in the headphones and the world and its problems are fading in the background.
This pattern in the canal reminds me of Koi fish skin.
Since today I did not post a fully new artwork but finished and updated one instead here are more amazing autumn colors. I was saving these for maybe a separate post. It felt right to add them here. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Autumn this year has been so beautiful here in Latvia.
Also, a huge Thank You to all of you who stop by each day to appreciate my works and read my ramblings and thought process for this challenge! I am truly grateful for your kindness and support! Thank you all!
