El Día de la Madre, al menos aquí en Venezuela, que es donde vivo, es el domingo 12 de mayo. Aunque sé que en otros países se celebra en diferentes fechas, para la mayoría de las personas, la madre es ese ser especial que nos llevó en su vientre durante nueve meses. Más allá de eso, ha dedicado una buena parte de su tiempo al cuidado durante la etapa de crianza y siempre será un apoyo para el resto de nuestras vidas. Por eso, algunas personas suelen dedicarle un regalo, como en este caso una pieza de joyería. Esta puede ser un gran recuerdo lleno de sentimiento que podrá usar durante todo el tiempo, evocando ese momento de agradecimiento o aprecio por la labor de ser madre.
Mother's Day, at least here in Venezuela, which is where I live, is Sunday, May 12. Although I know that in other countries it is celebrated on different dates, for most people, the mother is that special being who carried us in her womb for nine months. Beyond that, she has dedicated a good part of her time to care during the parenting stage and will always be a support for the rest of our lives. For this reason, some people usually give him a gift, such as in this case a piece of jewelry. This can be a great souvenir full of feeling that she can use throughout, evoking that moment of gratitude or appreciation for the work of being a mother.
Esta pieza está compuesta de una silueta de madre e hija, que ha sido elaborada en plata y cortada a mano con segueta, a esta técnica en orfebrería se le llama calado, para que sepan esto fue un pedido en que la pieza debía ser de 2 cm, esto al ser algo pequeño tenía su dificultad para hacer el corte; esto lo iré comentando en el transcurso de la descripción de proceso, pero como es una técnica que puedo decir que domino acepte el reto, ahora les comento sobre los materiales y herramientas usados:
This piece is composed of a silhouette of a mother and daughter, which has been made in silver and cut by hand with a saw, this technique in goldsmithing is called openwork, so you know this was an order in which the piece had to be 2 cm, this being something small had its difficulty in making the cut; I will comment on this in the course of the process description, but since it is a technique that I can say that I have mastered, accept the challenge, now I will tell you about the materials and tools used:
- 0.7 mm silver foil, 1 mm silver wire and silver solder.
- Dremel with flexible shaft and universal chuck.
- Milling cutter to open a hole in metal of 0.75 mm.
- Saw bow, 2/0 Saw.
- Files, sandpaper number 280, 360 and 400.
- Blowtorch, borax as a flux and stripper to whiten the silver after the soldering process.
- Bench motor, polishing cloth discs and polishing wax.
Imprimí el dibujo de la silueta a la medida indicada, lije la lámina en y luego hice pega blanca y pegue la silueta, una vez se fijó la impresión en la lámina usando el Dremel y la fresa 0.75 mm abrí los huecos interiores de la figura, que son las áreas por donde primero realice los cortes por comodidad, empleando la el arco de segueta con las sierras 2/0.
I printed the drawing of the silhouette to the indicated size, sanded the sheet and then made white glue and glued the silhouette. Once the print was fixed on the sheet using the Dremel and the 0.75 mm milling cutter, I opened the interior holes of the figure. These are the areas where you first make the cuts for convenience, using the saw arch with the 2/0 saws.
Concluido el corte de las áreas interiores, se procede a contar con la misma segueta la parte de la silueta exterior, claramente con mucho cuidado, porque al ser la pieza muy pequeña siempre se puede mal lograr alguna parte, por ejemplo una parte delicada del diseño son los pies, también como logran ver el corte no fue exacto quedaron por corregir algunas partes, pero antes de las correcciones, quito la capa de papel y ya a ojo usando la lima o alguna fresa que pueda hacer esta función voy quitando los excesos, también uso la segueta para este fin.
Una vez conforme se procede a lijar con los papeles de lija 280, 360 y 400, después le coloco una argolla hecha con plata de 1 mm de espesor, se soldá con el soplete y soldadura de plata junto con el fundente bórax, se mete en agua con el decapante, se lija otra vez con el papel 400, para por último pulir en el motor de banco, en este proceso uso un disco de tele duro y la cera de pulir para sacarle brillo.
The cutting of the interior areas is completed, we proceed to count the part of the exterior silhouette with the same saw, clearly with great care, because since the piece is very small, some part can always be missed, for example a delicate part. of the design are the feet, also as you can see the cut was not exact, some parts remained to be corrected, but before the corrections, I remove the layer of paper and by eye using the file or some milling cutter that can do this function I remove the excesses, I also use the saw for this purpose.
Once you proceed to sand with 280, 360 and 400 sandpaper, then I place a ring made of 1 mm thick silver, weld it with the blowtorch and silver solder together with the borax flux, put it in water with the stripper, it is sanded again with the 400 paper, to finally polish on the bench motor, in this process I use a hard disk and polishing wax to polish it.
