This is a rare glimpse of one of the one of Brunei's fish markets. Brunei's doesn't import a lot of the sea food into the country. This is a tour of the Jerudong fish market here in Brunei. The catch here usually is fresh.
This is one of the places to get fresh fish and many various types of seafood. =)
JERUDONG FISH MARKET
Some squid anyone?
Do you like eating squid? There are lot more seafood here as compared with in Miri. Usually, these squid can be made into squid rings. I am not sure if there is ink inside or not.
There are lots and lots of stall here.
We were here to get a type of fish that was boneless and easy to cook.
The lots of stalls here
The stalls install lots of lights, I guess to attract customers.
Flower crabs
These crabs have very nice flowery patterns. I have never eaten flowery crabs before.
We were buying these
These fish are Brunei dollars 5 per kilogram. The only thing is to clear out the intestine.
This place is like a huge maze
There are lots and lots of stalls here and many different sections to go.
Sardines?
I am not really sure if these are sardines?
Busy morning
The seafood here is caught fresh everyday. There is a bay nearby here where locals here load off their boats directly into the sea. Go out and get fish.
My wife
We had to walk around everywhere to check out everything around.
PRAWNS
Prawns here sell for BND 10. In Miri, Sarawak, the prawns would have sold for a lot higher in price.
Lobsters
The lobster. I seldom eat lobsters.
Lots of locals here sell their catch. They catch the fish out at sea and bring it to these stalls to sell themselves. The good thing about buying seafood here is that you can negotiate the price and they would gladly give you a discount.
There are other stalls here that sell fruits.
What are your favourite seafood? Hope that your going to have a great day. It's Wednesday again.
