11:17 PM. Late at night. Our cab finally got us to the hotel. We had arrived late from a flight and found a guy who was willing to bring us to the hotel. Forty minutes of drive along Penang. Looking out the window. Calm.
Loop on Leigh
The hotel that we were going to stay for a couple of hours. We had been up for more than 12 hours and finally a place to lay down before heading to bed. Even if it was for a couple of hours, it was worth every minute of rest.
This hotel is located somewhere in
Downtown somewhere in Georgetown, Penang
Very nice decor
The hotel is clean. However, on the website, they promised a window view that wasn't there. We had a window, but it was not the view of the streets outside. It was a view of the inner area of the hotel. Then they call that the window view.
The room wasn't that big
All dark. But it was good enough for a good night of sleep. Complimentary bottles of water on the shelves. Just what we needed to replenishment.
Early morning.
Not many shops were opened yet.
There was a shop nearby that had Rotis. Just what we needed before heading to Hatyai, Thailand. We had pre booked a driver who was gonna pick us from the hotel.
Still dark
The ambience of the morning hours usually is soothing. Everyone here preparing to head out for the morning. I love that morning vibes. However, I usually, can't wake up early to catch the sunset. In Penang, it is still quite dark. In Miri, Sarawak, it would already be quite bright.
So, I ordered a plate of Roti.
Roti
The roti here is different from what I usually eat. It's slightly thicker but still no doubt to be delicious. The gravy adds on some of the delicious flavours to this roti.
A cup of coffee
Nothing beats having a cup of coffee early in the morning just to start off the day. Early in the morning. With some caffeine just to get some energy boost.
After that, we had an early walk strolling around the still early hours of Penang.
So many trishaws. It's been a while since I have seen these.
The Southern Hotel
The Southern hotel has that vintage vibe. The British inspired architecture.
An hour from this, we were heading to Hatyai, Thailand. Months in the plans and finally, the day came. It was an exciting day for me. Ecstatic feeling. Penang is picturesque. Just take a picture at any angle and that photo would definitely be worth keeping.
To be continued.
Do check out my next trip to Hatyai, Thailand. It has been more than a decade since I last went to Thailand. That was when I was a teenager.
Do read prior post.
