Once, an administrative office during the time when James Brooke ruled Sarawak, it is now a museum.

Not many people visit museums.

I love visiting museums. Looking at history artifacts and getting my imagination running. That guy is the only person working in this building when I was there. He was sweeping and when I went in with my wife, he sat at the counter.

Everything in this gallery are specimens that have been preserved.

The Rafflesia

The largest parasitic flower in the world that grows deep in the jungle of Borneo that blooms once in 5 years. This plant is pretty hard to spot even for locals. This is a perfectly preserved flower. Slightly aged throughout the decades. This museum has a section dedicated to research. Local university students come here to study the flora and fauna of Borneo.

A local crocodile

One of the places to be really careful to be near in Sarawak are near rivers. You won't know when a crocodile would suddenly appear. Some crocodiles have a head that could easily fit an adult human.

On display, a 14 feet real man eater. This crocodile ate a man on the 29th of October 1993. They found his wrist watch in its stomach. It was then hunted down skinned, treated and preserved through two weeks of taxidermy.

Python

Commonly found in Sarawak. These pythons can grow really huge.

The wreathed hornbill

Hard to spot in the wild. Still exist today in the jungles of Borneo.

Marine life

Yes, these are all marine animals that have been caught and preserved. There are dolphins in the South China Sea.

The Swordfish

The largest clam in Malaysia - at a length of 80cm , the largest in the world grows upwards to a metre.

Leopard cats

Leopard cats are still found in Sarawak. The are times, I've seen them at a pet shop.

Commonly found here in Sarawak. Some locals eat them. Well, I am a turtle lover, so I won't be eating any of them. These can grow big. Really really big.

There are many skeletons of different types of animals here for research purposes.

Dog tooth cat snake

Slittering deep in the jungles of Borneo. Well, the forest in Sarawak are dense and you won't be surprised to find one that slitters around while you hike.

Hand drawn pictograms

I was amazed to see this. Nowadays, with modern printers, these are printed with high glossy paper and animals accurately printed on. In the past, researchers drew them on a piece of paper and even coloured them. wow.
