And getting push notification to work with pp chat in the background has been a big issue

I know what you mean, but if I use that method when the app is in the background how will the function for watching whether a user received a message run?
Their docs is far more explanatory than firebase own...firebase people no get time to write proper documentation.
I can use expo push notifications locally properly.
The issue is the background tasks
If your company doesn't earn up to k dollars monthly use it without paying.
I have had an app running it since last December. I never pay anything. Proper implementation of background tasks.
