We, fifth year Industrial Engineering students are now heading to the starting point of our feasibilty study. For this day, we had a very productive day as we had our first trial for making our product.
To start making our product, we sent first a letter of request to the head of our University's Chemistry Laboratory to lend us the room and borrow some laboratory appratusses that we need for our product making. Gladly, it was approved.
Among the class groups, we are with the three other groups who used the laboratory.
How they made it?
They start it by cleaning and heat the talaba shells to boil so it will polvorized easilly, strained and mixed with silicon sealant to make it elastic then molded it into phone's case.
Want to know how?
They boiled up the minced fiber for an hour. While waiting, they soak the crepe paper in water for the craft paper color (dye) An hour later, they strain the banana fiber's water then mixed it in to dye.
When mixed, they pour it in to frame then let it dry for few hours.
How?
Firstly, they look for malabar night shade or spinach with fruit then pound it. Mixed with vinegar and salt so the color will last long.
Want to try it at home?
Only these organic plants (we use aloe vera and calamansi) is needed also essential oils (including olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil), distilled water, shea butter and sodium hydroxide. Mix it all well until it get thick and sticky. Lastly, mold it in to container with your desied shape the wait until few hours/days/weeks.
Despite of being serious with our first trial, we still managed to have fun as we don't want to stress ourselves too much. As long as we are having our team work or unity, we can do it well.
We are all glad that our first try is not bad and made our product well. For some parts, we observed some mistakes and errors which is good so we know the do's and dont's for the next trial.
