Rhiannon means “Great Queen” In ancient Welsh tales, she traveled across the world on a white horse no one could ever catch. Perhaps because Rhiannon was not moving through the world. Perhaps the world was moving through her.
Humans have the curious habit of calling anything animals understand without explanation “instinct.” In this work, woman and horse observe the same cosmos from different perspectives: she through a consciousness that questions; he through one that simply knows.
When their faces merge, reason and instinct cease to be opposites. They become two ways matter has found to perceive its own existence.
Perhaps consciousness is not a human privilege. Perhaps it is the universe’s oldest curiosity.

Iluzione establishes a dialogue between the Baroque and digital painting, combining mystery, drama, symbolism, and imagination. The project also celebrates a very important milestone in my history: my 25 years as a digital artist and painter. I have been drawing in Photoshop since 2001, and this year marks this journey built over two and a half decades.
