In this part of the world, Nigeria to be precise, we have two seasons only: rainy and dry seasons. There's also the harmattan which is a part of dry season.
The rainy season is roughly between March/April to October, with regular rainfall, higher humidity and cooler temperature.
Then the dry season spans from November to March, with little to no rain, lower humidity, hotter days and all. Not forgetting the Harmattan sub-season that comes up Mid-December to late January with dry, dusty wind from the Sahara. And then, the cold nights and mornings, hazy skies, dry skin, dust everywhere, causing cough and catarrh.
Honestly, I don鈥檛 have a favorite season. I just adapt to whichever one that shows up the best way I can. As if I even have a choice not to. Lol.
Right now, we're in the peak of the rainy season. For the past months, it was just random showers, but June has come to shower us with consistent rain. In fact, from last weekend up until Monday, it rained - heavy, cats and dogs! Lol.
I wasn't so lucky, got myself drenched.
Water is life. Humans, the floral and fauna need water to survive. The rains come with a breath of fresh air - the atmosphere becomes cool, clean and fresh. Green vegetation everywhere - shredded trees gradually grow back their leaves, flowers bloom, crops thrive and produce food. Also, farming activities start in earnest, promising more food supply.
However, the rains also come with some heartbreaks. Lol. Business activities often become dull or even stalled. Prices of goods, transport fares go up. More traffic build up on the roads, causing delays in movement, wet streets, floods and more.
And then the cold weather, which often causes cough and catarrh... that鈥檚 the part I hate most. Come to think of it, I'm supposed to love the rain, at least the cool weather that comes with it since I was born in June, but nope, the opposite is the case. The cold gets to me that sometimes I'd wonder if I caught pneumonia. 馃槀
