Once the weekend sets in everyone is excited while looking forward to an enjoyable moment, rest and rest. But does it really happen that way?

I believe the usual idea of having weekends is for rest purposes. After a week long of working including other engagements, one now uses the weekend to relax and get refreshed for the new week but sadly that is not always the case. Some weekends are are even busier than week days and it continues like that to the new week leaving one with no or less time to rest.

If there is one thing I do not like doing on weekends, it's going for shopping.
Honestly this is not something I look forward but how will the family feed if I do not buy the things needed as it's only on weekends that I can do that.

Shopping is an another level of stress itself. Imagine going from one end of the ever busy and bustling market to the other in search of the things you need to buy, haggling prices of goods, having to listen to the constant shouts from good's carriers and wheelbarrow pushers to make way so they pass or face being hit with their wheelbarrow, the shouts from market men and women calling out to passersby to come patronize them - some will even hold your hands in an attempt to drag you to their wares just because you mistakenly looked their way and if you react by cautioning them rains of abusive words will trail you down to your house sef if care is not taken. Market wahala will test your sanity to the last.

After the market stress you come back to face cooking. Oh, is there no way these food stuffs can just cook themselves so one can rest? If there is, please do let me know because there are some weekends I do feel like not cooking and wish we just eat out all through but that will be extra expenses on the family's budget. Moreover I rarely eat out so it's pertinent that I cook.

And now here's the main culprit 馃槀Can't one just stay home and have a quiet, restful Sunday after coming back from church without having to attend events - weddings, child dedication, meetings and the rest. I just wish it will be possible, but it seems that will be a bit difficult because here in my city it is only on weekends especially Sundays that most people have the chance to attend events. So if you want people to be at your event, you better schedule it on Sunday. It has become a norm.

Being that I work from Monday to Friday, and some Saturdays too, I see Sunday as the only day of rest and having a me - time so whenever one of such events crops up and robs me of it, I usually feel unhappy and cheated but I guess there is not much one can do about it because that's the way things are here.

It can be crazy on some Sundays where you can have about three events that you were invited to, and none of them are the types to skip. Ha! you will be moving from one event to the other to record your presence and then do the needful, and by the time you go back home, your spirit might have left your body due to tiredness 馃槀

I need to stop here because I still have unfinished business in the kitchen.

Ciao
