I've been craving toasted bread for a while now, but haven't been able to satisfy it because I don't have a toaster. But you know, when cravings become overwhelming, one has to find a way to satisfy it, lol.
So, over the weekend, I tried out a local method of toasting bread, and the result was not bad at all. In fact, it was simply amazing. I relished the taste and savored every bite. 😋
I would have invited you to join me, but there wouldn't have been enough for two, lol. I know you'd love to try it out, so I'd be happy to share my very own recipe with you. I know there are many recipes out there, but this is how I like making mine. Very easy and pocket friendly.
So let's go. First, I'll list out the ingredients.
Preparation
Wash, crack and beat the egg thoroughly. Oh, poor eggs. Imagine all the cracks, beatings and whisks, they have to endure just to be part of a delicious meal. 😋.
Heat your cooking pan on low heat. Then add vegetable oil - just enough for stir- frying the veggies.
Once heated, add a pinch of salt, pour in the onion.
Allow it to fry for about a minute or two, and then add the tomatoes, pepper and seasoning plus salt to taste. Stir well.
Your bread fillings are ready! Time to slice the bread. Doesn't it look appetizing?

That done, get your mayonnaise, butter or margarine - whichever you're using, and spread evenly on one surface each on the sliced breads.
Next, place the filling on one bread slice (with spread), then cover or top with the other bread slice. Do this until all the sliced slices are filled.
Then to the final step. I bet you're salivating already 😅
Heat a pan over low heat. Add a tablespoon of cooking oil. Let it go round the pan.
Next, place the bread slices in the pan and toast for 2 minutes, to get a golden brown color. Flip and toast the other side for another 2 minutes. Repeat the process until all the bread slices are toasted.
Even if it burns in the process, don't worry. In some parts of the world, people actually enjoy eating burnt food. I do too, though, sometimes. Lol.
Your toasted bread is now ready. Savor the delight. Enjoy with a cup of coffee, tea, juice, or your favorite beverage. So yummy. I can't wait to have more bites. 😅
Note
To get a perfect toast, your bread shouldn't be too-soft or fluffy, as they might become too crispy or fall apart when toasted. So you'll want a bread that's sturdy, dense, and has a good balance of texture and flavor, either sliced or unsliced.
I like using already sliced bread because it yields a smooth, even texture and an appealing appearance when toasted. Moreso, it saves time and effort.
But this time around, I had to make do with the unsliced.
That's a wrap. Tell me what you think about the toasted bread. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
