Umbrellas are useful when you need to get out during a light shower, or a drizzle. But when the rain is pouring down, the Umbrella is not so useful, you'll get wet anyways.
Have you ever tried moving with an Umbrella when it's windy? The wind fights you and at that point the open Umbrella is a hindrance to you. In most cases, the Umbrella gets damaged because of the force of the wind, and you holding on to it. At this point, most people just close the Umbrella and walk in the rain, or find shelter till the storm passes.
Life is not so different from the Umbrella and the wind situation. There are problems/troubles that come to us, and like the Umbrella in a light shower, we get through it. And there are times when the troubles are like a windy storm, and like the Umbrella, some things become deadweight at the point, and in order to move forward , you gotta drop these weights because they'll only slow you down.
