When being in Zakopane, we had several highlights which we wanted to visit but as the weather forecast wasn´t very optimistic for all the week, we were adjusting our plans every morning. It was only the second day of our stay when the sky was totally clear, the sun was shining and the temperature was about 15° so we decided to go for a hike to Kasprowy Wierch.
As usual, it was me who was a bit eager to set off early in the morning as we had about 20 km ahead and I wanted to enjoy the most of the day in the mountains. At the end, we started at 8.30, which was not bad at all, made some stocks of chocolate - actually, we wanted to taste something Polish, we bought Ptasie mleczko, which is some kind of milk soufflé with chocolate cover – and walked about 3,5 km to Kuznica, a part of Zakopane town from where you can take a lift to the peak.
We were in a really good mood, smiling, laughing, talking and we bumped into a guy who gave us really good advice and recommendations for the trails to Kasprowy Wierch. Obviously, we were really lucky because we were on the track, following the green mark but not to break my routine, in the totally opposite direction.😀
Thanks to this guy, after some minutes, we entered the Tatra National Park. We paid some small amount as an entrance fee and the asphalt pavement changed to a nice forest path.
We were walking through forest, along a mountain stream with crystal clear water, there was a total silence, only sometimes we heard some bird singing. We were breathing the fresh forest air and enjoying the smell of conifers. After some time, we realized we were climbing up a steep hill and we reached our first view point. We were excited about each and every mountain we saw.
The rest of our journey was only up along stone-paved path. I must admit, I don´t remember the details of the journey itself so much because I was totally impressed by the views we had.
The sky was a bit cloudy but it only amplified the beauty of the views.
After about 2 hours of hiking, we finally saw the peak of Kasprowy Wierch.
Still before we reached the peak, there was a wonderful view of a part of Western Tatras and Roháče at the back.
The higher we were, the stronger wind we were facing.
Finally, we reached the summit. When we moved to the opposite side of the mountain, we were offered breathtaking views of High Tatras with Swinica as the main peak of 2301 m.
There is a restaurant on the top of Kasprowy Wierch where we had some hot tea with local rum and as the place was a bit crowdied because of the lift station, we decided to move slowly down, enjoying the fascinating pictures.
We followed the tips from the guy at the beginning of our journey and we took the other way down. It was really good choice as the views were totally different but perfect at the same time. As we were descending, the landscape character was changing.
We reached our hotel at about 4 PM.
If you ever would like to hike this mountain, I can really highly recommend to start at Kuznica, follow the green mark on the way up and yellow on the way back. Later on the yellow is changing to blue in the direction back to Kuznica. The whole trip was about 20 km long (it is about 14 km from the lift station at Kuznica and back).
