It was almost midnight of the last day of the year, all the members of the Carupe family were about to enjoy the traditional "last dinner of the year", when a badger ran in and passed under the table, Ramon Carupe's wife Mary began to scream for fear of the animal, this in turn was also frightened by the screams of the woman and went into the bedroom of one of the sons of the Carupe family, Ramon seeing all this commotion starts to laugh, his wife says "why are you laughing, stand up and do something, get the badger out of Frangelismar's room", he simply replies "don't you see the scandal you are generating, when the simplest thing to do is to call Tobi and he will get the animal out of the house".

Ramon gets up from the table and calls tobi who was in the yard barking and agitated by the commotion, the dog runs in and is guided to the four where he was hiding under the bed, the badger upon hearing and seeing the fierce guardian, runs away, the dog follows him closely, they leave the yard and the badger escapes with difficulty, through a small hole in the fence that overlooks the forest. Then it was quiet and everyone returned to the table, but it was past midnight and it was no longer the last supper, but the first meal of the new year.

Ramón se levanta de la mesa y llama al tobi que se encontraba en el patio ladrando y agitado por el alboroto formado, el perro entra corriendo y lo guían al cuatro donde estaba escondido debajo de la cama, el tejón al escuchar y ver al feroz guardián, sale en veloz carrera para escapar, el perro le sigue muy de cerca, salen al patio y el tejón escapa a duras pena, por un pequeño agujero en la cerca que da al bosque. Luego vino la tranquilidad y todos retornaron a la mesa, pero ya pasaban las doce de la noche y ya no era la ultima cena, sino la primera comida del nuevo año.
