Truth is dead and we killed it.
We killed it because it didn't suit us.
We ignored it because it hurt.
We stomped on it because it didn't make us feel superior.
We made up lies because the lies we need stand high above the truths we don't.
We are living in an anti-truth world. Not a post-truth world, as some describe todays time. An anti-truth world. People always told lies for their benefit but today they tell lies for the purpose of being heard.
Lying used to be seen as an infringement against yourself, a violation against your own being. Now its seen as a boon to your groups narrative proliferation. It is encouraged, it is rewarded. Rewarded with attention and attention is influence.
Never questioned, followed up with rejection or any harm for the one committing the lie.
Skeptics, politically unbiased thinkers used to be glorified. Now they're seen as paupers begging in the gutter.
With so many lies said for the sake of promoting the ideological boxes people place themselves intentionally into we have become utterly incapable of recognizing the truth. Incapable and unwilling.
That is the true cost of lies.
