The meaning of work has changed a lot in the last few centuries.
It started with a way to earn your food when humans used to hunt and farm for food. The only thing that mattered was food, and you had to work hard, even put your life in danger for it.
Then, a little bit development happened, and the meaning of work changed to earn your living.
You had to work in factories, make money so you can eat food, maybe own a car, a house, and sometimes use your money for enjoyment.
Today, the meaning of work is to fulfill your lifestyle. To find meaning and happiness.
There is no more need to hunt around dangerous animals, unless you really want to.
There is no more need to labor hard, unless you ignore all the opportunities to learn and earn around you.
We all have the ability to create, invest, and build things we want. We may be the first generation to have so much resources and opportunities to do so.
A big part of it is possible because of the internet. Because of the connectivity and easy access to the knowledge.
Just a few years ago, there was no such thing as NFT's. Now it is a multi million dollar market.
A decade ago, there was no crypto markets. Now it's a multi billion dollar industry.
Ten years ago, working remotely was almost impossible. Now, everyone wants to work remotely. It gives people opportunity to have more time, and find alternate income opportunities.
Someone somewhere is always working to create a new billion dollar industry.
People are constantly discovering new ways to be more useful and to do more meaningful work. Work that they can enjoy and earn a better living from.
I think kids who are now in primary schools, will end up doing work that doesn't even exist.
Still, a vast majority of people fight for a piece in traditional job market. They make it more tough and more competitive to survive in the traditional job market.
Maybe it's because of the herd mentality. People want the same thing other people want. Professions like medicine and law are so famous because everyone wants to be a part of it. It feels secure being in traditional job market and insecure to do something on your own.
But how many people see and act on these opportunities?
A lot of people rely on their fate to change their circumstances. But we create our fate, not the universe. We have to look for opportunities. The world won't come knocking on our door with a bag full of opportunities.
Even if opportunities do come, we have to listen, response and act on it.
I remember that in 2017, one of my friend asked me, "What are you up to these days?". I said there is something called cryptocurrency. It's a fun thing. You can make money from it. Maybe it is the future.
He looked into it, and bought a bunch of coins, participated in some ico's and became part of a few crypto communities.
Today, he is doing well, made good financial gains just because he talked to me.
Similarly, I can remember half a dozen events, where I got opportunities randomly just because I was talking to someone and an opportunity came up.
Hive, Dcity, online writing, and many other things. All came because I was interested to learn something new, to try something new.
The problem is not that there are not enough opportunities in the world out there. It's just that we fail to recognize a lot of these opportunities.
Not many people want to act like a treasure hunter, find new jobs, and new opportunities.
Not many people want to behave like an archaeologist. To dig old jobs, and be creative enough to do them in a more useful way.
The internet has created a vast resource of opportunities. It's endless, given that you are up for learning. You can make money through writing, talking about things on youtube, creating art(NFT's).
The bad hand.
Sure, a lot of people are dealt with a bad hand in life. They are born poor, on the wrong part of the world where opportunities are far less.
But if you decide not to play, you won't move forward. You will have 100% chance of failure.
Asking yourself why me doesn't help, does it?
You can either let the negative feelings consume you or get over them and look for more opportunities outside the normal path.
Find flaws in the existing systems, and come up with the solutions. It's an unseen opportunity.
Add value to others work. It's an opportunity.
Learn to look life in a way that every new possibility is an opportunity to grow.
A simple step of spending time around successful people can show you how many opportunities are out there. And if you can't pick up their skills, you will pick up their energies.
Being around top writers and marketers will make you more creative. Being around top freelancers will make you more productive.
When you are around them, you will learn how to think. You will understand which ideas are significant and which ones are irrelevant.

What you want to do, is always changing. Maybe not for everyone, but for most people. And it's good.
What I wanted last year, is not what I want now.
We don't achieve our goals, enjoy the moment and then do the same thing for the rest of our life with a happy face. We always change our priorities, plans, and strategies according to the opportunities we have.
Your goals and overall life is always evolving.
When you find a new opportunity and realize that you can uplift your circumstances, live in a better condition, you will grab it. You will make new goals and leave your old goals behind. That's you evolving.
