Torrent Sniper is a rare Water splinter reward card. It costs seven mana and is designed to eliminate vulnerable enemy support monsters by targeting the backline instead of the tank with its Snipe ability. He has another ability, Painforge which makes him deadly. In today's post, I'll show how this can be used in actual gameplay.
As a fledgling, Kael nearly drowned after falling from his roost into a river, but the experience awakened a powerful form of water magic within him. Feared and branded as cursed by his fellow wood owlkin, he mastered his unusual gift and became an unparalleled hunter capable of striking enemies from incredible distances. When the Chaos Empire invaded Sylvaras, Kael used his deadly water lances to defend his homeland. Later, poison in his blood caused his magic to become even more ruthless and uncontrollable, forcing even his own allies to keep their distance. Now, Kael stalks the Broken Lands.
Torrent Sniper at maxed level deals three magic damage and has three speed. On defense he has three armor and nine health. He has the Snipe ability that targets the enemy back line. He also has Painforge that makes him stronger if he is poisoned, burned or hit by an ally. Finally, he has Weaken that decrease the enemy's health by one.
My Torrent Sniper is at level four where I take advantage of his Painforge ability either in combination with allies or with the ruleset. In today's post, I'll show how deadly Painforge ability can be in the right conditions.
The battle rulesets were Equalizer and Collateral Damage. I immediately thought of a unit with Painforge to take advantage of the ruleset because Equalizer will maximize its health and Collateral Damage will increase his power every turn. I chose the Water splinter led by Marlai Singariel. The rest of the team were composed of an all magic line up.
Wailworn Specter was placed in position one. I intended to sacrifice her for the Bloodline Tribute to strengthen Mindless Thrall and Arcane Skinwaler.
Abyssal Elemental can play as tank. It's Resurgence ability adds to its tankiness in return for damaging its allies. It will also trigger Torrent Sniper's Painforge ability.
The star of this battle. Torrent Sniper's power increases each round triggered by attacks from allies.
The Mindless Thrall deals three magic damage and will further increase because of Bloodline Tribute.
Arcane Skinwalker has the Shapeshift ability that allows it to benefit from Wailworn Specter's Bloodline Tribute ability.
The legendary Frontier card is a good damage dealer and slows down the enemy with its ability.
The enemy had the Fire splinter but had no units with Painforge. The additional armor from the archon will not help him because damage from Reckless goes through armor and my own damage is magic.
At this point Torrent Sniper has huge damage of seven. He can defeat the enemy units in one hit. The battle is an example how to take advantage of Painforge ability in Collateral Damage ruleset.
