Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
I recently got Shadowcomb Duskrose from the jackpot chests. She is a common Earth splinter unit. She's the second jackpot card I got after Ruinkeeper who I haven't used because I dislike his Reckless debilitation. In today's post, we'll review her lore, stats & abilities and show I battle where she joins my elf team.
Shae'lira Ilyndra (Shadowcomb Duskrose), once the noble daughter of House Ilyndra, was betrayed on her wedding day when House Zol'naeth turned a political union into a massacre that annihilated her family and left her the sole survivor. She found the ancient axe Gravesong, whose cursed power corrodes armor and destroys all who stand before it. Still wearing her wedding gown, she became known as Shadowcomb Duskrose. Shae'lira now fights war alone against the ones responsible for her family's destruction.
Shadowcomb Duskrose is an eight mana common card of Death and Fire splinters. She's of elven bloodline which means she can join my elf team and will also receive the Execute ability from Kaylia Silverleaf archon. At maxed levels, she has impressive stats dealing a huge six melee damage. She also has nine health but slow with only one speed. She has four useful abilities in her kit.
Charge allows her to attack from any position.
Rust debuffs the enemy armor.
Fury deals double damage to Taunt units.
Finally, Ambush allows her to attack before the first round of battle.
She has an impressive stats and abilities for a common card. The downside is she is common that means it will take four hundred copies to max her out and that could cost a lot considering her rarity being a jackpot card.
The last time I wrote about her, I used another player's battle. Now that I have her, I'll show a battle where she seemlessly joined my elf team.
The battle's rulesets were Rise of the Commons and Outsider. This allowed me to include the Terraceous Grunt whom I wrote about in a previous post to join the team. Then, I had four elves in the team including my new card, Shadowcomb Duskrose. Forlorn Geomant also joined the team. His five magic damage makes him a deadly damage dealer and I try to include him when the mana cap allows it.
The enemy's had a good, low cost team. They had good synergy and built a very beefy tank supported by allies abilities. First, used the Frontier archon that gave his team additional health. Then his tank was Dread Tafarian who can heal himself. Behind him was Virid Venomancer who has an ability that granted Dread Tafarian the Shield ability, decreasing melee attacks received. For his outsider, it was the Goblin Psychic, who has Tank Heal ability. The two units support his tank and make it last longer in battle. He had decent damage dealers like Quilliun Legionary, Mindless Thrall and Husk of the Hunter.
The enemy's tank was tough but my team dealt huge damage and had the Execute ability to defeat the Dread Tafarian. Once he was dealt with, Quilliun Legionary stepped in as tank. He's also a good unit in the role owing to his Thorns and Void abilities that defend against melee and magic attacks. Meanwhile, my Grove Doomblade was wrecking the enemy's backline with her five melee attack and sneak ability. It would have been a tough battle if the enemy's supporting units in the rear were not defeated.
