I'm really glad to have discoverered this community because I am introspective and someone who's passionate about faith and making sense of the universe. Many communities on hive do not allow you to write religious posts and with good reason I guess, but I felt that the complete erasure of this fundamental thing that had to do with faith which is very dear to a lot of people was not authentic. If hive to be a home for everyone, this area of our lives should not be neglected. I stumbled on this community just a few days ago and I believe I will make it a home.
Picture of me taken in 2021
Talking about this makes it easier to explain why. On the 20th of November, 2021 I made up my mind once again and after a tearful night because I'd been hurt that day, to focus once more on renewing my mind in God's word. I'd felt great disappointment and anxiety the entire day, I'd felt rejected and uncared for due to some personal relational events and I realized once again that I had spent so much time and energy chasing after things I was not meant to. I was in essence with my limited human understanding searching for baskets of water which did not make sense because a basket of course cannot hold water. A broken cistern cannot either. I wanted something stable so I turned to a Christian friend I trusted and asked for help.
I did not put it in those terms. I did not say ' help me' because I did not want to reveal much of my mental state. What I said was 'can we study the Bible together again because I need an accountability partner?' We'd done this years ago and it left a mark on me. So I told my friend my target was to study each day for at least an hour. Thankfully and I'm really grateful about this, my friend was up for it and had the time to do this with me. We have been doing this since that day and I thank God for it.
In this short time which you could approximate to being a month or so, I have read most of the books of the new testament. We are currently in the book of Galatians and we started reading it backwards from the book of Jude. Revelations will be read later since it's very deep. At the time I wanted immediate comfort and I felt Jude would be a good place to start and it was. We discuss at least two chapters per day to the Glory of God and I have supplemented the things we learn with personal studies of my own from YouTube.
This time is special for me because it renews my mind. I feel the presence of God more tangibly and I learn to cultivate my desire for obeying and becoming a better Christian so I can be used. I made up my mind to allow God control my life and destiny. I have been praying more as the hunger gets awakened in me.
My two favorite songs in this season have been 'Hungry for you' by Nathaniel Bassey and 'Yeshua Hamasiach'. They're beautiful songs which I recently discovered. I was told by my friend that I am a teacher and I believe him because every time I stray away from God, something always pulls me back. I know God had called me just like He has called everyone who believes in His name. I want to make sure that I answer His voice more readily and obediently this year as I draw near to Him.
