Although I am a summer person that would happily live in a summer climate all year round, there are some things that I do enjoy during winter so I thought that I would share some of them - and maybe you can add a few more to the list.
Soup - I love to make some home made soup (none of that packet stuff) and have it simmering on the stove while I get on with my day to day tasks.
As a child, my dad was a farmer and we had home made soup every day as a starter to our main meal.
A wood fire - nothing beats the feeling of being in a room that has a wood fire burning - it just makes one feel so cosy - when my kids were small I would keep that fire going throughout winter and it warmed the whole house.
Walking - something that I enjoy on a crisp winter's day - really invigorating.
Reading - snuggling up with a good book while the rain is pelting down outside.
Movies - watching old classic movies.
Cooking - I love to cook really nice meals for family or friends - like a nice roast with all the trimmings!
Nature - I love to see the change from autumn to winter when the leaves have all fallen and the branches are bare having their winter rest, also seeing the snow on the mountains around us and small streams full once more.
And of course, enjoying my home grown veggies.
Watching the birds - winter is the time that the beautiful aloes come into flower and it is the time that the sun birds come to feast on the nectar.
I also put out food for the other birds and enjoy the fact that they have food in winter when it can be scarce.
Well, that is just a few of the things that I do enjoy about winter - what are yours?
