A thought that often enters my head is that I sometimes wish that we could switch off our emotions.
Let me explain:
I seem to attract thoughts that make me very aware of struggles that are all around us - in stormy weather, I worry how the birds and other creatures are surviving.
If I see a dog running in the street and there is no sign of an owner in sight, it distresses me.
If bees come inside the house and get trapped by the window, I have to get up and rescue them and put them outside again.
When it comes to humans - especially friends and family, I feel their sorrow or pain when they are going through difficult times and I carry it like a heavy stone inside of me.
There are people out there that just seem to sail through life without being affected by the circumstances of others and I often envy them.
Looking back on my life, I have come to understand myself better and have realized that much of how I feel stems back to things that happened to me during my childhood which, to put it mildly, was a very scary and unhappy time and the insecurity of that time has made me very aware of the distress in others.
With age, comes wisdom - so it is said - well, although I now understand myself better, I know that I cannot change who I am and so will continue to have emotions that affect me deeply.
The negative aspect of being this way is that it can affect ones health and then it takes a great deal of mind changing to redirect thoughts in order to move forward.
