Ego - something we all have a bit of at various times in the course of a life time.
However, when the ego in a person becomes so big that it over rides everything, then it becomes a huge problem.
By all means, be proud of your achievements, but remember to have a bit of humility - no one wants to listen to a person that has been there, seen it, done it - and claims to be better than others - I don't know about you, but I find that some of the really beautiful people are the ones that listen and although they have achieved great things in their life, do not boast about them.
Life is not about having a competition with every person that you meet - one often sees this in certain personalities and it is not a good thing to witness.
I have in my possession a copy of the "Desiderata" and if you have not read this before, I would urge you to do so as it says it all.
I love it - especially the beginning which goes like this:
Go placidly amidst the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible be on good terms with all persons - speak your truth quietly and clearly and listen to others - even the dull and ignorant - they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons -they are vexations to the spirit ...
