Having a scented garden is something that most of us enjoy, so I thought that I would mention a few of my favourites.
Lavender is of course the first one that comes to mind and all the varieties are scented except for the Australian Lavender which has striking blue flowers but no scent.
Even the leaves of lavender plants are scented and when one brushes against the plants whilst walking in the garden, the scent clings to one.
Rosemary is also a lovely scented plant to have - I love to run my hands up the stems - it is said that smelling rosemary improves the memory.
Mints are great too and release their lovely scents when handled or trodden on if planted by pathways.
Lemon Verbena is a lovely shrub to have and has a gorgeous citrus scent - it makes a great tea too.
Old fashioned roses are a "must" in the garden as they are really heavy scented that can fill the garden in summer and spring. -The petals are wonderful for pot pourri.
Jasmine is another spring flowering climber which emits a powerful sweet scent.
One of my favourite smaller plants is the Sweet Violet - you have to pick the tiny blooms to smell them, but they are lovely - and are edible too.
Well, that is just a few of my favourites - there are many more available.
