Who remembers the excitement of window shopping as a child?
We used to drive into town and take a walk through the city, peering through the shop windows looking at the brightly adorned displays. It was quite an outing back then, dreaming about what we would buy if we had all the money in the world ;)
Christmas time would be best, with a beautiful street light display which was put up on the main street in the commercial hub. Christmas decorations in the shop windows added to the festive atmosphere.
I had to speak harshly to myself not to be tempted by the detectable chocolates in the Lindt store but felt quite sad afterward when I looked at the pics again; I should have gone in and at least bought some dark chocolate as it is good for one's circulation after all;)
There are a number of kiosks in the centre of the mall walkway selling all kinds of goods; this one had candy for the picking, just in time for Halloween trick and treats!
Elegant luggage is found at de Marigny's for that year-end dream vacation, and handbags to suit every woman's taste, but you certainly will not find a bargain-basement here!
Shoes for the gents at Spitz and a new range of summer outfits for the gals at the shop next door.

This is the store to visit if you're looking for a gift for that special friend or the woman in your life; it's a treat just walking into the store and breathing in the gorgeous aromas!
L'Occitane stocks a range of French skincare, bath and hair products, some made with natural ingredients.
Gloria Jean's is a specialty coffeehouse offering gourmet coffee blends and delectable pastries.
My window-shopping trip was done at The beautiful Pavilion Shopping Mall that I told you about a little while ago.
Looking up from the interior of the dome that is the Pavilion's main architectural feature.
This mall used to be real busy before Covid hit our shores, but nowadays looks quite empty compared to what it was like before.
Stop reading if you don't want to hear me complaining.
We did not go to the Pav to buy any of these beautiful items although I still enjoyed window-shopping!
Our trip was to buy rechargeable emergency lamps as our country is currently experiencing an energy crisis, as has been the case ever since 2007!
The situation went from bad to worse in 2014 when our power supplier had to shut down two power plants due to diesel shortages!
Yep, unbelievable that we're still having this major issue!
Their solution is something called Loadshedding which is implemented periodically; we currently have electricity outages for periods of two hours, twice a day!
Those who can afford it, have installed costly solar power units and gone off the power grid; others use noisy generators, but the friendlier system is setting up an inverter, something we will have to consider if this continues.
I must apologise but I had to vent as I was just about to publish my blog, when it was our turn to sit in the dark for two hours!
Our cellphone network also lets us down as they're not maintaining their battery backup!
