Babies are born in cabbages?

Girls are born in the roses and boys in the cabbages was what French parents used to tell the kids when they wanted to know where babies came from - 'Les filles sont nées dans les roses et les garçons dans les choux.'

I do not think today's children can be fooled like that for too long though;)

Enter the Cabbage Patch Kids

Who remembers the Cabbage Patch Kids? I'm sure there are some of you who adopted one of these hand-stitched dolls who came with a birth certificate!
These dolls were first created in 1976 with over 130 million Cabbage Patch dolls born since then, apparently averaging to one birth every 6.8 seconds:) That would sadly have come to a dead halt though with the Covid19 lockdowns!

Health Benefits of the humble Cabbage

Vitamin C is something the whole world needs a whole lot of now with CV lurking around every corner!
According to webmd.com

Half a cup of cooked cabbage has about a third the vitamin C you need for the day. It also gives you doses of fiber, folate, potassium, magnesium, vitamins A and K, and more.

Of course fermenting cabbage no matter how gross that may sound, is even better for one as it turns into natural probiotics that nourish bacteria in our gut; this in turn help the body fight germs, absorb nutrients, digest food and surprisingly control anxiety!

Cabbage further is loaded with antioxidants, good for inflammation and contains glucosinolates which are special sulfur-containing substances that your body turns into cancer fighters; kale, collards, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower also contain these substances.
