Wishing all our #silverbloggers who are celebrating this special day, a blessed Christmas and happy holidays to everyone else.
Calm has returned to Lily's Cottage with all our guests settled in, so although our plans to spend the day with our family are out the window, we will enjoy a relaxed day with Mom Lily and our youngest son.
All courtesy of the Omicron virus that at least is proving to be not as nasty as its predecessors.
I actually cheated as our Christmas gifts arrived from our son via courier a couple of days ago, and he was quite excited about seeing our reactions to the thoughtful gifts.
When I saw a Gaming Keyboard, I thought the couriers had made a mistake as my son is a gamer, not Mom. He told me this was especially for Hive blogging, and I now see what he means about just what a good feel these keys have; it looks way too snazzy for a Silver Blogger, but I'm really enjoying it!
Guests who are becoming regulars here in our BnB, left yesterday with a departing gift, a gorgeous little Portulaca Plant and delectable chocolate-coated nougat that I hid away from everyone!
So Christmas morning arrived and we had an early Zoom family Christmas meeting, giving me more time to get on with cooking.
The menu was really simple as it was only four of us -
Filling/quantities at your own discretion, except for the topping
Arrange Mixed Veg, Chopped Bacon, diced Spring Onions & Parsley into pie dish
Crumble Feta Cheese on top
Topping - Beat 2 Eggs, 200ml plain Yogurt, Seasoning, 100ml Self-Raising Flour & pour on top
Sprinkle grated Cheddar Cheese on top, bake at 170°C for approx 25-30 min till golden & set
An old South African favourite, flavoured with vanilla & Lemon Zest & topped with Cinnamon
This lone three-legged Monkey that I told you about a while ago is becoming a regular in our garden but gave me a huge fright this morning.
For those who did not read that story, he likely was kept as a pet as he's not afraid of humans nor aggressive. We were told by an animal rehab centre he possibly was kept by a witch doctor, as they hold them captive, feed them till they're big enough, then cut off a paw or an ear to sell as muti (magic medicine), absolutely cruel. This one seems to be quite self-sufficient as he looks healthy.
While picking herbs outside my kitchen door, he suddenly was at my kitchen door, stepped inside, and totally ignored me trying to shoo him out. I started screaming blue murder for my son to come and help as I was outside and he was already inside the kitchen. He's quite a big boy and may just turn on me!
My son quickly chased him out and was actually relieved to see what had frightened Mom, as he thought I was being attacked by an intruder!
Well, he was an intruder, but thankfully not the human kind, and afterward calmly sat on the wall outside the kitchen door, hoping for a tidbit or two. One never feeds a wild animal like this one, as it would then approach any human and could attack them.
Well, that was our Christmas day which actually was a nice change, spending a quiet day with only four of us, three Silvers and our youngest son.
Hoping you had a fabulous day or are still celebrating; here it's past my bedtime but I could not resist this fancy brightly lit keyboard, and chatting to my Hive friends of course!
