What a weird mixed-up month August has been, in more ways than one; this is our windy month, and the winds of change certainly blew hot and cold here in our little haven.
I won't go into too much detail except to say I'll be glad to see the back of it!
Our neighbour's dog Alexa gives us a chuckle each time she climbs on to their roof; always up to mischief but she has the best vantage point from up there!
She is doing exactly what the mischievous monkeys do; likely wanted to see what they find so interesting up there!
Here the monkeys are on our roof, something we see almost daily as they troupe through our garden foraging for food. Sadly their source is getting scarce, as more and more housing developments are being built. We've also lost two of our giant papaya trees that provided the monkeys, the birds and us humans with delicious sweet papayas!
So, although we don't have any real pets of our own anymore having lost little Snowy to old age, and our poor ginger cat who was attacked by a neighbours dog, we do enjoy watching our 'wild' pets, like the birds that we feed daily, as well as the antics from the monkeys who get all our fruit and vegetable peels as well as all the bread crusts; I make sure they're not around when I throw this down our bank as they would then start approaching humans.
This Hadida Ibis is becoming a regular visitor eating leftover oats porridge so although they irritate some people with their very loud calls while in flight, we enjoy seeing him and his mate every morning.
We have many species of garden birds and they all enjoy splashing in the bird bath.
Many turtle doves visit our garden as do weavers, starlings and the swallows that will soon be back after their flight to Europe!
The most gorgeous butterflies visit our garden as well, giving us much pleasure when we take a break for morning tea.
I was quite amused at how this cat found himself at home lying on the books in the local SPCA bookshop; must be a lover of books ;);)
When visiting my brother and sister in law, their little sausages love sitting on my lap after getting up to all kinds of antics and always looking for attention; likely feeling a tad neglected when there's visitors, as they're spoilt rotten by Mandy as they usually have her undivided attention; my brother works abroad and is away from home a lot!
The image on the bottom right is a Pet by Numbers watercolour, a little online business my young nephew started; he works as a pilot in the corporate job market, but his little business is doing very well.
Yes, my sis-in-law used to have four sausages; she loves her doggies as they keep her company while my brother is away!
Nothing like a pet to keep one company especially when you live on your own; something else to think about.
My nephew was really excited when his Pet By Numbers was featured on Hallmark just before Christmas last year.
All one does is send your favourite photograph and they provide you with a kit so you can paint your own watercolour.

C'mon retirees, we should all be putting on our own thinking caps and start our own online business doing something we love; just let your imagination go wild!
I always have to end off with food, so...I had to feed nine mouths this week and when it was time for roast chicken, I used two but there was quite a bit of chicken meat left over so I made a Chicken & Mushroom Pie for us and the three young guys staying in our bnb enjoyed a spicy curried ground beef & veg pie.
I'm still battling to get my sourdough starter to froth up nice and good; it's taking it's jolly time so I made an Instant Sourdough Bread which was good eaten hot with ice cold butter, but it still wasn't the real McCoy!
