I will say something before I can share my story of seeing a real-life experience that I witnessed that
I am not a doctor nor a health professional with any sort of experience dealing with Mental Disorders; additionally, I am not a patient of any sort of mental diseases either.
Now that this is out of the way I can share my story of a male stranger I saw at a hospital.
I was visiting a government hospital which is close to my residential area for doing a blood test just to check my blood pressure. Suddenly I saw a man entering the emergency room and he was shouting “HELP HELP”. No one seemed to bother at first people thought he might be having a panic attack or maybe even a closed one has suffered some severe injury however after a couple of minutes when the hospital officials responded to his cries of help and asked him the serious question.
Hospital Staff Asked —
“What has happened to you Sir, how we may be of help”
The Man said —
“I just do not want to die by my own hands”
Hospital Staff Responded —
“This seems to be a Mental BreakDown and should be taken care of immediately”
Mental BreakDown is simply a term used for a very severe phase of Mental distress or discomfort where you might lose all your senses and not be able to control your self. Mental BreakDown is also called Nervous Breakdown.
The real-life example of a man entering the hospital emergency ward and asking for help is the correct way to fight a Mental BreakDown if you are living alone. The man knew he has lost all his senses and might cause harm to himself because of his Mental BreakDown hence he wasted no time into physically entering a hospital and asking for help. This step of his actually saved his life.
Now this man could easily have taken his situation for granted and called a helpline for suicide prevention but he did not take this case of his lightly and hence was successful in saving his life.
If you feel you are suffering from depression or anxiety you must find help in the form of a professional doctor to properly diagnose your problem. This guide is a mere encouragement for people suffering from mental illness to ask for help from the right sources.
