[ENGLISH] Hello dear friends photographers of the exciting monochrome style, today I'm back with you to tell you about one of the oldest traditions of my country Cuba, in a short story I'll be talking about the use of the Yarey hat.

Since colonial times and the war of the Mambises against the Spaniards this garment has been worn. We cannot specify who it was who made the first copy, only that the sector that used it the most at that time was the Cuban peasantry to protect themselves from the sun's rays, the hat was made with yarey or guano, which is a material that comes out of the palms.

In the case of the Mambises they used the hat to fold it in the front region and place the Cuban flag on it.

From the beginning this was its main use, however, over time it has been changing and nowadays it is not only used by productive sectors that are exposed for long hours to the rays of the sun, if not also used in festive activities by the Cuban peasantry, because it has become a typical national garment.

Nowadays when we go out on the street we can see dissimilars of people wearing these hats which have different designs, some are shown wider, others shorter and some more deteriorated than others.

It is used by all kinds of people from the youngest to the oldest and we can even see varieties of them from the most refined and typical of the livestock sector to the so-called pamelas, a variety of hat worn by women, which can also be with short or long wings and have different colors and ornaments to feminize them a little more.

Today I bring you a series of images that illustrate the daily use of this outfit in my province, so I show you one more detail of my country, I hope you like the photos.

[ESPAÑOL] Hola estimados amigos fotógrafos del apasionante estilo monocromático, hoy de regreso con ustedes para contarles sobre unas de las tradiciones más antiguas de mi país Cuba, en un breve relato les estaré hablando sobre el uso del sombrero de Yarey.

Desde la época colonial y la guerra de los mambises contra los españoles se usa esta prenda. No podemos precisar quien fue el que confeccionó el primer ejemplar, solo que el sector que más lo usaba en aquel momento era el campesinado cubano para protegerse de los rayos del sol, el sombrero era fabricado con yarey o guano, que es un material que sale de las palmas.

En el caso de los mambises utilizaban el sombrero para doblarlo en la región delantera y colocarle la bandera cubana.

Desde un comienzo este fue su principal uso, sin embargo, a través del tiempo ha ido cambiando ya en nuestros días no solo lo utiliza los sectores productivos que se exponen durante extensas horas a los rayos del sol, si no también se utiliza en actividades festivas por el campesinado cubano, pues se ha convertido en una prenda típica nacional.

En la actualidad cuando salimos a la calle podemos ver disímiles de personas usando estos sombreros los cuales tienen diferentes diseños, unos se muestran más anchos, otros más cortos y algunos más deteriorado que otros.

Lo utilizan todo tipo de personas desde los más jóvenes hasta los más ancianos e incluso podemos ver variedades de ellos desde los más refinados y propios del sector ganadero hasta las llamadas pamelas, una variedad de sombrero usado por mujeres, que igualmente pueden ser de alas cortas o largas y tienen diferentes colores y adornos para feminizarlos un poco más.

Hoy les traigo una serie de imágenes que ilustran el uso diario de este atuendo en mi provincia, así les muestro un detalle más de mi país, espero que les guste las fotos.
